I’m sure you’ve heard that teachers don’t get paid very much. It’s not a secret.

The US Census Bureau published an article showing that teachers make between 20% and 50% less than equally educated workers in other professions.

That same article showed that while most careers had an average wage increase of 2.6% each year, teacher salaries had declined by over 8% each year.

Time magazine famously had a teacher on a cover stating that she had to work two extra jobs just to pay the bills.

And for a long time, this was a teacher’s only opportunity to increase their income without leaving the profession.

We coached sports, ran clubs, tutored, helped with aftercare, and fulfilled a myriad of other roles on the school campus to make extra money.

Or we worked second jobs. (Some worked third jobs).

But today, teachers are taking control of their income through entrepreneurship. Teachers are using the wonderful resources that they make to serve their students and communities and sharing it with the world.

Teachers are starting businesses and side hustles that generate extra income as well as improving the educational system around the world.

Their income is increasing, and the educational system is improving because of it.

These teachers are hustling. They’re working on their nights and weekends. They’re learning new skills, like graphic design, digital marketing, and the ins and outs of running a business.

A common way teachers are making extra income is by selling the resources that they make for their classrooms on a website called Teachers Pay Teachers. If you’re interested in learning more about this avenue, click here.
