Optimizing your product pages will not only get you more views, it will also increase your conversions; exponentially increasing your sales!
Here are some things you can do to optimize your listings on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Product Titles

Optimize your product titles so that your ideal customers find them when they do a Google Search (or other search engine, like TeachersPayTeachers search bar).
To do this, title your product with words that customers are searching for.
Try to include as many of these as possible in the title (without sounding unnatural):
- Skill, section, or unit
- Type of resource
- Product line
- Grade level
- Benefit (if there’s room)
Cover Images
Think of your cover image as the window display that entices passersby to step inside and explore what you have to offer. It’s your chance to convey the essence of your resource, to spark curiosity, and to establish your brand identity. A compelling cover image doesn’t just catch the eye; it captures the imagination, ignites interest, and compels action.
Make sure your cover image has a bold, easy to read title that pops off the page.
Between 1/2 and 3/4 of the cover image is a photo or clip art (or a combination of both). The image is usually a preview of the product or it’s an image that’s related to what the product is about.
The image is usually separated from the words with different colored backgrounds and often a line.
The Main Goal
Remember that the goal of your cover image is to get the teacher’s attention and peak their curiosity.
Your product description (and previews) is what will make the sale, the cover image is to get them to the product page so they can read the description and see the preview images. So make your cover image appealing.
Premade TpT Cover Templates
Premade cover templates are a great way to save time and guarantee that you’ve got an eye-catching cover image. So don’t feel bad if you spend some money to save your time and get more clicks.
There are lots of places to get premade Teachers Pay Teachers Cover Templates, and they all work the same. They come predesigned, so you don’t have to worry about formatting or selecting embellishments or font styles. You just change the colors to match your brand, change the words to fit your product, and then upload your worksheet images and logo. (You might also want to change the clip art if it has that).
An easy place to find cover templates is on Teachers Pay Teachers. Just type in “Cover Templates” in the search bar. Be sure to pay attention to the type of file they are (which it should say in the product description). Most are either a Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a Canva template. Make sure you have that program (Canva is a website and is free to use) and are familiar with it so that you’re not stuck trying to download something or learn a program after you’ve made a purchase that’s supposed to save you time and make your life easier.
I have made 17 TpT Cover Templates, and they’re pretty good if I do say so myself. Feel free to check them out if you’re interested in purchasing premade templates. My templates are in Canva. Click here to check out my Cover Templates.
Thumbnails

Your preview images are the gateway to your product. They offer a sneak peek into what educators can expect, tantalizing them with a taste of the magic that awaits within. But they’re more than just snapshots; they’re storytellers, weaving narratives of possibility and potential.
Great preview images will dramatically increase your conversion rates.
What do Customers Want to Know?
When a customer is looking at a TpT product, they have a few questions in mind (try to answer these with your thumbnails):
- What is it?
- What’s included?
- How does it work?
- How will it help my students?
- How will it help me?
Use Words in your Preview Images
How do we tell our customers why our product is great, or how to use it, or what’s included in an image?
We have to use words.
So on your preview images, post images of the product with words that explain why it’s so great, how it works, what the benefits are, etc.
What Should Be in Your Images?
- Include pictures of the resource
- Explain the benefits
- Highlight the main features
- Explain what’s included in the download
- Overcome objections
- Make it different then your preview download

Use a Template
A great time saver is to build and use a template that works for all of your products (or you might need to make one for each type of resource you sell). Besides saving time, this will keep your branding consistent. It will also help you stay focussed on what you should be including on each slide.
I have a TpT Preview Image Template that you can use if you would like to have great looking preview files already made for you. These beautiful designs will keep you on track, reminding you of different ways to format the images and get good ideas of what to include. They come preformatted with embellishments and great layouts. And they are fully customizable. Change the colors, images, words, etc. to make it match your brand.
This preview file template is a Canva link that has fifteen different images to choose from, remember you only need three for each product you upload. The templates come with ideas for formatting, embellishments, and help you know what types of things to put on each preview image.
Preview File Download

Your preview images and downloadable file will play a huge part in your conversion.
rates. TpT has come out many times and said that over half of customers on the site won’t make a purchase if there’s no preview image or file.
What Should Your TpT Preview Images Look Like?
Much like your preview images, you want your preview file pages to look professional. They should be aesthetically pleasing to the eye and include pictures of your products and a few words.

Your preview file (and images) should not only be an image of the resource with the word “preview” over it. You need to tell the reader why your product is great. Explain the benefits. Don’t assume the customer will understand what’s so great about it just by looking at it, come out and tell them.
What your TpT Preview File Should Include
Your preview file should have a few pages (somewhere between 1 and 5), each with an image, or images, of your product and words that explain why it’s so great or what it is / does.
Each page should do one of the following
- Explain what it is
- Show everything that’s included
- Show how to use (it’s advantages)
- Explain what makes it great (benefits)
- Highlight key features

Product Descriptions
You can have the best product in the world, if you don’t have a good product description, it won’t sell.
The product description isn’t just a blurb; it’s your opportunity to showcase your product, to build a connection with potential customers, and to make the sale.
Why You Need Good Copy
Customers want to know what they’re getting. They need to understand the value of the product. They need to be sold.
The Introduction
Also called the snippet. It’s the first 1-3 lines.
This is the section that people will see when they are scrolling through products on TpT, when your resource shows up in a Google search, or if it’s posted on social media.
This is how one of my resources appears on Google Search. Notice how it has grabbed the first few lines of the product description. Customers will see this as they scroll on Google.
A good SEO strategy is to use a lot of keywords in your snippet, and to use them in the same sentence (close proximity of each other). So if I’m selling a practice worksheet for adding integers for grade seven math, my sentence might say, “This 7th grade math activity will help your students learn how to add integers. These maze worksheets….”
Do not waste words in the snippet. Don’t say things like, “Follow my page,” or “Like me on Instagram,” or “also available as a digital resource,” or anything else that doesn’t accomplish the tips mentioned above.
What else should be in your product description
- List the key features
- Explain how to use it
- Describe the product
- Tell what’s included
- Use keywords and phrases
I have lots more tips on product descriptions, as well as a ChatGPT prompt. These are available in my book as well as my course.
