What Should Your Product Be?

Niche Specific

Choose (or create) a resource that’s perfect for your TpT store’s ideal customer. 

In other words, what niche does your store serve? What type of teacher is it mainly for? Your free download should serve these teachers very well. 

Make it High Quality

This resource should be something that helps the teacher get a quick win. It should be something that they can use and reap tremendous value from. 

Ideally, it should be something that you could charge money for because it’s that good.

It Should also Serve You

When creating this resource, how can you make it also help you? 

How can you get the person who downloaded it to return to your store or get on your email list? 

You could create a bonus page in the resource that shows off something else, like an email option or a paid product in your TpT store that goes well with the freebie. Or you could ask them to like and follow your page (include hyperlinks) if they’ve found this download valuable. 

For me, I’ve created a product that links to ten of my blog posts. And on each blog post is another free resource. Some are in my TpT store and some are email optins. So I am working hard with this resource to get them back to my store or onto my email list. 

Optimize the Resource

Make the resource look good. 

The product itself should look good. Use a nice border, good fonts, and clipart images that make it look appealing. Don’t overcrowd it, or let it look busy. Make it TpT pretty. 

Also, make the preview images and cover image look stunning. Write a good product description. Practice the same great strategy we use to make our paid products high converting on your premium freebie, because we want this product to get downloaded a lot!

When your freebie gets a lot of downloads, you’ll have more opportunities to get followers, email subscribers, and even future sales.

Make the Most of Your Thank You Page

Perhaps what will do the most good for you with your free product, besides making it a great product, is having a fantastic Thank You Page. Click here to read about how to make a great thank you page.

Promote It

Since you’ve worked hard to make this product great, show it off. Put it in your blog posts. Share it on social media and Pinterest. Add it to your email welcome sequence. 

If you’ve done the things I’ve listed above, a good percentage of the people who download it will return to your TpT store or will get on your email list – which will ultimately result in more product sales. So share this resource a lot.
