Your Teachers Pay Teachers store is more than just a digital repository of resources – it’s your virtual storefront, your brand’s first impression, and the gateway to educational enlightenment for countless students and teachers worldwide.

Imagine your storefront as the window display of a prestigious boutique, inviting those passing by to step inside and explore its treasures. Just as a meticulously curated display entices shoppers, a well-optimized TpT storefront captivates visitors, guiding them through a seamless journey of discovery and conversion.

By focusing on key elements such as banners, free products, featured sections, and custom categories, you’ll not only convey a sense of professional branding but also empower your customers to find the perfect resources tailored to their needs – ultimately leading to increased sales and sustained success.

4 Main Features of your Storefront

At the time of this post, there are 5 main features to a well curated TpT Storefront that will guide viewers to the perfect products, and convert them into customers.

  • Store Banner
  • Custom Categories
  • Featured Product Section
  • Personal Profile

Updating all of these will increase the likelihood that a visitor to your TpT store makes a purchase.

TpT has updated this several times recently. So this could change.

Store Banner

Capturing attention, conveying your brand’s essence, guiding visitors to your most valuable offerings.

Your banner can provide a window to your brand’s value and messaging, solidifying a connection between the customer and your TpT store.

This is why we’ve got to make a quality banner that draw the customers in and enhance their shopping experience.

How to Optimize Your Banners

Because of its location, and size, the banner is valuable real estate. It’s the first thing that customers will see in your store. So you want it to grab their attention and help them know what your store is all about, or point them towards the resources that are best for them.

Here are some key tips to optimize your banner:

  • Allign it with your brand’s identity
  • Make it eye-catching
  • Highlight key resources
  • Direct customers to your custom categories
  • Use social proof
  • Have a call to action
  • Update during seasons to showcase timely products

Dimensions

The dimensions for the new TpT banner is:

Custom Categories

Curate your customer journey, so they find exactly what they’re looking for, quickly.

My TpT store has around 1,000 products in it. These products are for various grade levels and a wide array of different types of resources.

Let’s say someone stumbles upon my color-by-numbers activity for the distributive property. And they love it! Because, let’s face it, it’s awesome!

After they purchase it, or as they’re looking at it, they say to themselves, “It would be great if I could get some more of these! My sixth grade class would love them.” (And, they’re right!)

So they start scrolling through my store. But all of the products that they see as they scroll are not color-by-numbers worksheets for sixth grade. In fact, none of them are. Because I have many resources, as they scroll they see all types of different products, for different grades. But no color-by-numbers worksheets for sixth grade.

You might be thinking, “No fear, they can just type it into the search bar.” And that’s true. But maybe I haven’t labeled it with the right term (like I call mine “adding decimals” instead of “add decimals.”) Or they might type in “plotting integers on a number line,” which I don’t have, but I do have them for operations with integers, which they would like, but won’t find if they don’t know to look for it.

They will NEVER FIND THEM! And I will have lost out on more potential income.

If, however, I have my custom categories set up properly, they can just look at my categories, and select “color by numbers” and “sixth grade” and they can see all of the ones that I do have that would be perfect for their class.

What Custom Categories Should I Have?

Consider the scenario I laid out above. This is how the majority of customers will interact with your custom categories. They’re looking for more of something you offer – for what they teach. So I recommend making custom categories around your key types of products, as well as the grade levels that your products are for.

Also consider the different subjects, topics, or standards inside the class that you teach.

Go Deeper

I go much deeper into the categories you should have, how to organize them, and how to make them stand out for optimal customer navigation inside my ebook; Amplify your TpT Store and Product Listings.

 Featured Product Section

Large and above the scroll, getting this right can be a game changer!

Your “Featured Products” section is one of the first things that a customer will see when they visit your TpT store. So getting it right can make a big difference.

How do we optimize our featured resource?

I recommend showing off your best and highest converting resources that aren’t included in your top sellers. Here are some other things to consider:

  • Think about your ideal customers and what they’re looking for
  • Focus on your product lines
  • Update them around the holidays
  • Focus on your data
  • Optimize your resources for higher conversions

Your Profile

As of March 2025, your business profile is now more prominent on your TpT page, being highlighted on each TpT product page (see image below). So be sure to update your business profile. Share your brand message, overcome objections, highlight what makes your store and products unique, and use good copy.
