The TpT Back to School Sale is a highly profitable time for TpT Sellers. It marks the beginning of Fall and the back to school time, plus the sale increases traffic and conversions. So you want to make sure you are fully prepared to make the most of this opportunity that only comes around once a year.

Here are five things you can and should do to make sure you are ready.

1) Optimize Your Product Listings

Your product pages need to be clear, compelling, and conversion-ready.

This means you want eye-popping cover images, thumbnails and preview files that grab their attention and explain the benefits, and a product description that converts.

Go through the resources that will be highlighted at this time and optimize them. These should be the products that are your best sellers for August, as well as ones that are themed for Fall or for Back to School. Also, any ice breakers, activities, or get to know you resources that your store has that would be good for the first day are great products to focus on, as they will likely be your best sellers at this time.

2) Promote your Best Sellers

Identify your best sellers for the year as well as your best sellers for August.

These are often back to school activities and fall themed products. If you don’t have any, you should create some. If you need help, I have two resources below that you can customize and create for your own TpT Store.

After identifying your ideal resources for the Back to School Sale, promote them amongst your email list, your TpT followers, and on your social media.

If you haven’t started your email list, now is a great time to start. You can enroll in my free course to learn how.

If you want premade August social media posts to help you grow, I have a template for you for that, also.

Another great idea is to create a bundle and include these resources (the ones you are going to promote for August) so that as customers look at them, they have the opportunity to purchase higher priced items from your store.

3) Schedule Promotional Content Ahead of Time

Your going to be busy with your own back-to-school activities. If you’re still in the classroom, you’ll be moving in to your room and getting ready for the new year. And if you’re a parent, you’ve got all of the back-to-school shopping and preparing for your children.

So do yourself a favor. Plan ahead.

Write your emails now, and schedule them out.

Schedule your note to your TpT followers. Write your emails and schedule those out. And make your social media content and schedule that out as well.

4. Create or Update a Freebie That Leads to a Paid Product

Create a free resource that can be downloaded from your email list or from your TpT store (or both).

Some ideas could be a “Back to School” survival guide, a “get to know you” game, Fall themed classroom decor, an ice breaker activity, or a first day of school lesson plan for your grade level or subject,

Another good idea is to take one page from your resource and give it away for free. For example, if you download my Summer Themed Color by Numbers Worksheet, there are 7 different coloring pages. You can give one of them away for free, and then in the thank you page or your email sequence, promote the product you are selling (with all 7 pages).

To guide your customers to your paid resources, make sure you have a Thank You page that directs people towards your best resources. You may want to include the resources you identified earlier as the best ones for this time of year. If you are using part of a resource as your freebie, make sure you indicate that in your download and hyperlink sellers back to the whole resource.

For help with your Thank You page, you can use this template. You can also watch this video:

If your free resource is a download to get on your email list, make sure you have a welcome sequence that invites your readers back to your TpT store and to these higher-priced items.

5) Update your Store Front

Update your TpT Store Banner Image

Use your store’s banner image to point people towards your best products for the Back to School Sale (the ones we identified earlier).

Create a Custom Category

Make a custom category called “Back to School” or “Fall” and put the appropriate resources in this section.

This will help guide your viewers to the appropriate resources for them, increasing the chance that they turn into buyers.

Summary

  • 1) Identify your best selling resources, or ones that would be best for the Back to School Sale
  • 2) Optimize the product pages by updating your cover images, thumbnails, preview files, and product description
  • 3) Write emails to promote these resources that you’ve identified and schedule them in advance
  • 4) Don’t forget to also promote them to your TpT followers
  • 5) Promote your resources on your social media channels as well
  • 6) Do all of this promotional work ahead of time and schedule it out (you’re going to be busy in August)
  • 7) Create some free resources that lead people to your paid products through the thank you page and the email welcome sequence
  • 8) Update your TpT store banner and custom categories to guide customers to these resources
